How many times get you saw the phrase, "Getting back to basics"? Prospects are you affiliate that word with how you spend your money or with leading decisions you take about your life, but in general it's good advice to come for many places. Even on the course, remembering simple golf swing basics can improve not just your swing but your game and your score overall. So what are these golf swing basic principles you require to remember and how can they assist you improve? One of the most important aspects of golf swing basics has to do with from where the swing originates. Too many golfers pull their arms across their body and back again when a golf swing should actually rise from the shoulders. If the shoulders are not moving correctly then the body will create drag for the arms and create a block, which will mean a poor swing on a poor arc. The golf swing basics that affect your arms and shoulders are often overlooked by golfers as they get used to smacking the ball with a direct shot rather than one that arcs gently. If you notice that you're hitting the ball very difficult and it does feel as if you're smacking it on affect, you may involve to be mindful of applying your shoulders with your swing. Different golf swing basics to remember admit the angle or arc of your swing. It's not uncommon for amateurs to force their club up at too much of a standing angle, which means they then draw it back down vertically as well. This means that the club is not getting underneath the ball thus there is very short arc or trajectory and the club cannot create the whip effect that gives the ball distance. Visualizing how the club's striking the ball affects it is section of overcoming those golf swing basics; if you can figure why a club should land a specific way then you better figure how to apply it and how to swing. Determining golf swing fundamentals is not typically as difficult as many golfers think. Often they overwhelm themselves with various points that actually don't help their swing as much as they think, and they also get very nervous and tense as they try to remember everything. Normally a easy swing is the best; trying to have each element "perfect" is usually counterproductive for most. You can easily review your own golf swing basics every time you practice or are on the course; mentally review your stance, the arc of your swing, and your body’s position during the swing as well. Most mistakes are caused in one of those aspects of the swing. This means that if you proper and implement these simple golf swing basics you'll no doubt have a much better swing and a much better game overall!

Your Golf Ball Can Affect Your Scores

This subject is dear to my heart and I have had many a discussion with Amateur members at my golf club regarding the type of golf ball they are using. The answer is nearly always the same. They use different golf balls from day to day, even to the extent of swapping golf balls midround to a different manufacturer. This can have a detrimental effect on your handicap and your ability to produce consistent golf shots.

Allow me to explain further and imagine if you will – David has just hit his second shot out of bounds on the fifth hole using a Top Flite XL, he then proceeds to use another golf ball this time it’s a Titleist ProV1 which he plays to the edge of the green, he is now about 15 yards from the pin and takes his trusty 8 iron out and proceeds to chip the ball to the hole, it comes up about 4 yards short. Under normal circumstances David is excellent around the greens and was surprised to see his golf ball pull up short; he shaves the hole with his putt, taps in then carries on with his round of golf none the wiser

Ok let’s back up a bit here and analyse that scenario. I am sure by now a few of you have guessed the problem, its common enough and happens thousands of times a day on golf courses around the world.

When David changed his ball to a ProV1 he created the problem with his subsequent chip from in front of the green. David plays most of his golf with a top flite ball which jumps off the face of a club quicker than a ProV1, but because he changed to the softer ProV1 (which you need to hit firmer) his chip ended up 4 yards from the hole with the subsequent missed putt costing him a valuable stroke.

All golf balls can vary in the distance they travel, the spin they create and the control you have, that is why it is no good using a different golf ball on a regular basis, especially with putting where consistency is paramount. Feel is a very important factor in golf and should not be overlooked.

The simple fact is you should use the same type and make of golf ball all the time. I am not saying you shouldn’t try different Golf balls but you should get used to a Golf ball and not chop and change too often. Especially during the course of a round. Get used to the ball you use so you can be more consistent.  I cannot stress strongly enough to you how important this will be to your future scores. Like I said earlier this is a common mistake that most of us at some time have been guilty of.

Next time your out on the course check the golf balls you have in your golf bag and make sure the ones you take out onto the course with you are all the same type and make.

This is one thing you can all do, no excuses, enjoy your game.
